The Thoroughbred is a breed available in the Horse Reality game that can be obtained from the Foundation.
It was the most anticipated new breed Horse Reality has released so far. They were added to the game on October 6th 2021.[1] After just one day of being in-game, there were already over 40 thousand Thoroughbreds in Horse Reality. With that number, Thoroughbreds had already trumped 9 out of 27 HR breeds in total numbers on day 1. They are the first breed that has reached a population of 1 million horses in-game and are currently the most popular breed.

¶ Conformation
The Thoroughbred is often regarded as a perfect example of an elegant horse and as such used to improve other breeds. They have delicate, refined heads, long necks, slim bodies, high and well-defined withers, broad chests, and short backs.[1]
¶ Colour Genetics
Thoroughbreds come in all base colours: chestnut, bay, wild bay, seal brown, and black; but bay is the most common.[2] Colour modifiers, flaxen and sooty, sometimes enhance base colours. Grey, cream, and non-dun1 are also present.
As for white patterns, the Thoroughbreds are known for an "unstable" KIT gene. As a result, there are many mutations of the gene causing very loud white phenotypes. Besides KIT mutations, the Thoroughbred can also have frame overo, roan, or rabicano.

Please note that the table includes hidden agouti alleles (A+, and At). Besides testable genes, there are also untestable ones present: sooty, flaxen, rabicano, and white markings (head markings, socks, etc.).
¶ Artwork Updates
The Thoroughbred was added to the game on October 6th 2021.[3] Ever since the current Horse Reality version has been online, the breed received/will receive the following updates:
- The missing genes and alleles can be added to the game through new Foundation horses.[4][5] Adding white spotting genes will only be possible after the horse profiles & genetics have been transferred to V2, because they require additional coding work.[6]
- Thoroughbreds currently do not display sooty on wild bay bases or nd1
¶ Breed in Real Life
The Thoroughbred’s ancestry traces back more than 300 years to three foundation stallions – the Darley Arabian, the Godolphin Arabian and the Byerly Turk. Breeding these stallions to stronger, native mares created horses that could carry weight with sustained speed over extended distances, qualities that brought a new dimension to the burgeoning sport of horse racing. Thoroughbred racing became very popular in the USA which allowed the breed to develop and spread across all continents.[7]
