Due to heavy inbreeding in the Knabstrupper Horse's history, it wasn't till the 1970s that newer blood was introduced to the breed. This has created a large range of traits from its many influences used to shape the breed today. They are often split into 3 categories: Sport Horse type, Baroque type and Pony type.
The Knabstrupper is best known for its spotty appearance but can appear in solid colours as well.
All alleles available for the breed can be found below highlighted in green. For better clarity, we bolded alleles that impact coat colours (eg. grey G vs non-grey g).

The Knabstrupper Horse was added to the game in 2019. Ever since the current Horse Reality version has been online, the Knabstrupper Horse received/will receive the following updates:
The Knabstrupper Horse is believed to have originated from prehistoric spotted horses that also produced the Appaloosa Horse. In 1812 the Knabstrupper started with a single chestnut blanket spotted mare called Flæbe purchased by Major Villars Lunn who owned an estate in Denmark called "Knabstrupgaard". Flæbe and her colt by a Fredricksborg stallion, Flæbestallion, became the foundation for the Knabstrupper.
By the 1870s the limited number of Knabstrupper horses led to unavoidable problems of inbreeding. Sadly, in 1891 a fire at the Lunn family stables killed 22 of its top breeding horses, which also added to the breed's struggles. By 1900 the numbers of Knabstruppers had declined significantly and supporters of the Knabstrupper horses set about to re-establish the breed. In 1971 breeder Frede Nielsen brought 3 Appaloosa stallions to Denmark introducing new blood into the Knabstrupper breed.
