Caring for horses on Horse Reality is essential if you want to keep training your horses and participate in conformation shows or competitions.
Caring for horses can be done once a day, after you've clicked the manual daily rollover button before entering the game. The caretaking tasks can be found on the Summary tab of each horse. There are 5 tasks to complete:
Each task is accomplished instantly by clicking on the associated button, which fills the green bar, and inactivates the button until the next day. Clicking one of the buttons awards the player with +1 XP, so just by taking care of one horse, a player can gain +5 XP. Premium players can care for all of their horses with just one click on the “Care for all horses”-button in their stable blocks. However, this does not reward XP.
Currently, you don't have to buy any feed, bedding etc. at the Equistore to complete these tasks. These items are not fully functional yet, therefore they are not required to take care of horses. Treats (apples, carrots, horse treats), however, can already be used to increase your horse's affection or energy slightly. Treats can only be given to your horse once a day, but only if they haven't been given one through care-for-all or by manually clicking the treat button on the horse's profile already. Treats can be given to your horse by going to your inventory (in the menu on the left, under “Personal”), clicking on the item and then selecting the horse.
Grooming impacts the performance of your horses in conformation shows and competitions. If you want your horses to score the best they can, make sure to groom them before entering them in shows. If you ignore your horse's needs and they get truly hungry and thirsty (caretaking bars filled < 25%), they will also not replenish energy. Caretaking and energy levels have no impact on the breeding, health or lifespan of horses, which means that in periods of low activity, you can safely leave your horses unattended.
