The Namib Desert Horse is an athletic breed that shows “well-bred characteristics in the head, skin and coat”[1]. Horses are lean-muscled, with sloping shoulders and croup, straight and clean limbs, and exceptional bone quality.
This feral breed comes in all base colours: chestnut, bay, wild bay, seal brown, and black, the latter being the rarest. There's also evidence of colour modifiers present in the breed which are: flaxen, sooty, pangaré, and non-dun1.
The Namibia Wild Horse Foundation has confirmed that no other colours appear in the breed.
All alleles available for the breed can be found below highlighted in green. For better clarity, we bolded alleles that impact coat colours (eg. grey G vs non-grey g).

The Namib Desert Horse was released on July 27th 2022.[2] Ever since the current Horse Reality version has been online, the breed received/will receive the following updates:
The Namib Desert Horse is a feral breed found in the Namib Desert with a mysterious past. Feral horses are observed around the Garub water hole for a hundred years now but it is not known where the founding population of the breed comes from. One of the theories speculates that the Namibs are descendants of abandoned or lost military horses, but there are also stories connecting them with possible horse survivors from the farm of Baron von Wolf. Genetic tests revealed that Namibs have the closest resemblance to the Arabian group of breeds, but due to a lack of historical evidence supporting this, the result is possibly only a statistical error.[1] Current reports say that the herd has less than 200 horses, all of them displaying a small variety of base colours. Harsh environmental conditions and greatly limited genetic variability are the greatest challenges for the breed.
