¶ Conformation
Fjords are small stocky horses with sturdy legs. They have wide chests and are well-muscled, making them a very strong and versatile breed. Fjord manes and tails include a centerline of dark hair down the middle, which is often showcased most in their mane when it is trimmed to a traditionally shorter length so the hairs stand upright.

The Fjord Horse has special traditional names for colours that can be found within a breed. These can be found below:
¶ Norwegian Colour Names
It's a tradition to use Norwegian definitions to define the colours of Fjord Horses. Society names 6 different colours, but accepts only 5. A small white star is accepted, but not desired.
- Brunblakk: Bay dun, more than 90% of all Fjords show this colour
- Rødblakk: Red dun
- Grå: Black dun with or without 1 cream allele
- Ulsblakk: Bay dun with 1 cream allele
- Gulblakk: Red dun with 1 cream allele
- Kvit: Any of the top three with two cream alleles. These nearly white horses with blue eyes are not desired.
¶ Fjord Horses Without Dun
Real-life Fjord Horse registries would not allow non-dun (nd2/nd2) Fjords, but they do exist in Horse Reality.[1] That is because there is proof that such horses have existed in the past, which means that even today Fjords with one D and one nd2 allele could be walking around, and if bred together, could birth a homozygous nd2 foal. Such a foal would not be allowed into any real-life Fjord registry but is genetically possible from two purebred registry-approved parents.

¶ Artwork Updates
The Fjord Horse is one of Horse Reality's older breeds, drawn in the beta version around 2017. It has not received any updates or coat variations since then, but the breed will receive the following updates:
- Will receive a new greyscale in the future[2]
- The missing alleles for non-dun1 and white markings will be added to the game through new Foundation horses[3]
¶ Breed in Real Life
The Fjord Horse is a medium-sized draft horse from Scandinavia. It is easily told apart from other similar-looking drafts due to some distinct features: All fjords are dun with pangaré and many have a frosted mane. Some also have the cream allele.
After living many years in isolation in Norway, they're perfectly conditioned to withstand harsh elements. The breed might not be large, but they are tough and strong horses. Throughout history, they have often been used for heavy tasks such as ploughing and pulling trees. They also do well as riding horses or driving carriages. The Fjord is known for its friendliness, but also for its stubborn character.
