Backgrounds are decorations that can be equipped to your horses on Horse Reality. They can be bought through the Fitting Room and Market. New backgrounds usually get released on the 1st working Monday of each month. During special events, exclusive backgrounds may become available and/or given out as player gifts.
¶ Purchasing Backgrounds
Backgrounds can be purchased in the Fitting Room with either Delta Points (DP) or an Orb in the top right of the screen. Only currently available backgrounds can be purchased: Some backgrounds are sold all year round (regular), while others are only available for a limited time (limited) or exclusive to certain events (special). For example, you cannot purchase a limited December-only background in July. However, all backgrounds can be previewed at any time.
You can also buy backgrounds from other players on the Market with HRC. Any background can be sold here, so if you're looking for a specific unavailable background, it can be good to keep an eye on the Market sales.
¶ Buying in the Fitting Room
The Fitting Room is found on the left sidebar under “Personal” and can be used to try out and purchase different backgrounds for your horses. A new background gets released monthly, usually on the first Monday of the month. Limited backgrounds from the previous month become unavailable and current month-limited decorations return.
By selecting a horse and clicking on a specific background, you can preview how the background will look. The Fitting Room also lists how many copies of each background you already have in your inventory.
On the top right of the screen, you can select the currency you want to use to purchase a background.
Backgrounds can be purchased with DP. You will always receive five copies of the background when using DP. The prices vary, starting at 250 DP which can increase depending on a variety of factors. DP can be bought with real money at the Delta Store or obtained in-game which is explained in more detail on the Currencies page.
You can also use orbs to buy backgrounds. Orbs are one of the perks of a Premium Account. Premium players receive 1 Orb on the first day of each month. Orbs do not expire and can be collected and used at any time, even if your Premium Account expires. Each Orb can be exchanged for 1 copy of a background of your choice. Orb purchases are done one Orb at a time (no bulk buying) as you can see in the picture below.
If you have selected a horse while purchasing a background, it will automatically be equipped to that horse. Otherwise, the background (or remaining copies) will be added to your inventory. You can equip backgrounds to horses through your Inventory as well.
¶ Buying on the Market
Backgrounds can be bought from and sold to other players on the Market for HRC. The Market can be found by clicking on the World Map under the Explore header in the left-hand menu.
To purchase a background, click on the “Explore” button right next to our NPC Naomi Hauwangaa, owner of the African Wild Park. Here you can select “Items” in the top menu. By clicking on “Filters” and setting the “Category” to “Decorations”, you will be able to view all the backgrounds currently for sale. It's also possible to filter for a specific background only by selecting the name under “Item”.
If you want to sell a background of your own, click the orange “Create new sale” button on the main Market menu and then select the background under the “Sell item” tab. In the “Office”, the “My sales” section lists all of the backgrounds (and other items) you currently have for sale.
¶ Horses with Backgrounds on the Market
Sometimes you can find horses in the Market that have backgrounds equipped. Purchasing these horses will not return the background (and/or any other equipment) to the seller. This means that you will be the new owner, and can unequip the background and use it as you like! All sales through the Market are final, so make sure to double-check any of your own horse sales to ensure you don't accidentally sell a background, as the new owner does not have to return it.
¶ Equipping backgrounds
All unequipped backgrounds you own can be found in your Inventory under “Decorations”. You can equip them by clicking on the background, selecting a horse and then using the background.
If you have selected a horse while purchasing a background in the Fitting Room, it will automatically be equipped to that horse. The Fitting Room also lists how many copies of each background there are left in your inventory.
You can remove a background from a horse at any time through the horse's page by clicking the thumbnail found under “Equipment” in the “Training” tab. Doing so will return the background to your Inventory, allowing it to be used on a different horse.
When a horse gets retired or passes away, their equipped background will be returned to your Inventory.
Backgrounds do not expire. You can equip and unequip a background as many times as you wish to whichever horse you wish, but keep in mind you need one copy per horse.
