In previous years, Horse Reality has organised a special event and/or prank in the game on April Fool's Day (1st of April) that lasted for 24 hours. Players that logged in during this time, received an exclusive April Fool's milestone. On this page, you can find an overview of each year's events and artwork.
Events can be toggled off on the settings page under the Account tab in-game.
¶ 2019
The 2019 prank was exceptionally moved to April 11th, 2019. All horse images were replaced by a large variety of hobby horses. The milestone “A Sticky Situation” was awarded to all players who were online during the event.[1][2][3]

¶ 2020
In 2020, Horse Reality went back to betta. All horse images were replaced by a variety of betta fish with a fishy background (exclusive to the event, not available for purchase). The milestone “Back to Betta” was awarded to all players who were online during the event.[4][5][6]

¶ 2021
In 2021, Horse Reality was Rembrandting. It was decided that the artwork needed repainting, and that instead of working with artists the moderators would be drawing horses from now on. All horse images were replaced by funny sketches, drawings and cartoons made by the Horse Reality moderator team. The milestone “Rembrandting” was awarded to all players who were online during the event.[7][8][9]

¶ 2022
In 2022. our artists escaped and took a bunch of artwork with them, forcing the moderators to take over. All backgrounds were replaced by images drawn by the Horse Reality moderator team. The milestone “A Sketchy Beginning” was awarded to all players who were online during the event.[10][11][12]

¶ 2023
In 2023, Horse Reality announced a large amount of brilliant upcoming game updates, such as:
- Non-Player-Characters: Our human NPCs will now randomly pop up on your screen to engage in 30 minutes of small-talk with you. No way to exit early. They just want some love and social interaction!
- Laboratory: Our scientists have found a way to add special genes to your horses to change their coats to rainbow colours! It costs 100 000 Donkey Points per gene!
- Brabant Horse: Have received new artwork and are now twice as big to fit two saddles.
The game also pranked itself, since the 2022 backgrounds decided to make an unexpected comeback. The milestone “April No Fools” was awarded to all players who were online during the event.[13][14]
¶ 2024
In 2024, all horse images were replaced by plushies, featuring horses, unicorns, cats, dogs, capybaras, birds and more. Many of the plushie designs were based on player and staff pets. A toggle-button was added which allowed players to switch between the event and normal horse images. The milestone “On the Plush Side” was awarded to all players who were online during the event.[15][16][17]

¶ 2025
In 2025, all the horses were replaced by a mash-up of pieces of different breeds in the game. Sneak peeks of the new Shire art were hidden among all the pieces. The milestone “Puzzled Ponies” was awarded to all players who were online during the event.[18]
