The Camargue Horse is a breed available in the Horse Reality game that can be caught in the European Wildlife Park.
The Camargue Horse is one of the oldest horse breeds in Europe. The horses live in semi-feral herds called “manades” in the Camargue region of Southern France. The breed has lived in the marshes and wetlands for centuries, but its exact origin is unknown. It is often believed that they descended from the prehistoric Solutré Horse, and they probably share ancestry with Iberian horses. Throughout history, Camargue Horses were admired by many civilisations that invaded or passed through France.[1-3]
In 1964, the Association des Eleveurs de Chevaux de Race Camargue was established to preserve the breed and their environment. This led to the development of a breed standard and studbook.[3]
Living in the harsh Camargue marshes with violent winds, high humidity, cold winters, hot summers, and insects, the Camargue Horse developed great robustness, stamina and agility. They have very strong hooves that are well suited to their wet environment. They can stand in water or marshes for hours while they graze, yet rarely develop foot problems.[1-3]
The breed is rather small in height, but very strong. They have a square head with small ears that are set far apart; the eyes are wide-set. The Camargue Horse has a compact body, a short neck, and a deep, powerful chest. The mane and tail are full and long.[1-3]
(Nearly) all Camargue Horses are grey. They are born with any base colour and gradually turn lighter as they age. White markings and sabino-like patterns are also present in the breed.
All alleles available for the breed can be found below, highlighted in green. For better clarity, we have bolded alleles that impact coat colours (eg. grey G vs non-grey g).

Please note that the table includes a hidden agouti allele (At). Besides testable genes, untestable ones are also present: flaxen and white markings (head markings, socks, etc.).
The breed was and still is used for agriculture and herding animals as partners of the “gardians”, who show off their skills during yearly festivals. The Camargue horse is also used for disciplines such as dressage, endurance and more.
The Camargue Horse is one of Horse Reality's older breeds, available in the game's beta version in 2016. Ever since the current Horse Reality version has been online, the Camargue Horse has received/will receive the following updates:
